Florida high school class president was told by his school that they would cut his microphone if he said “gay” in his grad speech, so he replaced gay with “having curly hair.”

  1. You can update your email in settings.

  2. It won't let me. It sends an email to an account I no longer have access to anymore.

  3. It's about not teaching sexuality to young children. High school students, especially those graduating, don't fall in that category. It's also not supposed to infringe on discussion outside the framework of the classroom. Cutting the mic is ridiculous and inappropriate.

  4. Has nothing to do with that. It's all bogus guise for control.

  5. From what I understand that's not the case. I don't mean their intent but in theory they should be able to mention their spouse but not teach about sexuality. Maybe anyway. It's pretty vague and opens schools up to interpretation that's as liberal or conservative as a school district may want.

  6. One argument is that the reason to keep abortion legal is to keep abortion safe. When abortion is illegal, women will likely turn to unsafe abortion practices because its what they can get/afford.

  7. Back alley, wire hangers (or whatever might be used) and shady "doctors" (quotation marks because they might not even be doctors) don't save any. It's entirely possible that the pregnant woman dies in this type of procedure. Even my conservative father is pro-choice because he's old enough to remember when it wasn't legal and it was also bad for women.

  8. My guess is she became bff's with Judith Ward's child, they spent the day in photoshoots and her name ended up on everyone's lips. On social media she was trending, she had a sub devoted to her, a TikTok and Instagram and her image all over the place. Just because she became best friends with Judith Ward's child.

  9. NTA. What's wrong with you honoring your deceased best friend. This is a memory of the last thing you did with her. It doesn't impact your gf at all but it's something that makes you feel better.

  10. But we (not restricting this to the US) put limits on rights all the time without viewing those limits as turning a right into a permission.

  11. It's about the US Constitution and Second Amendment. That's what makes it a right rather than permission. What you don't have the right to do is kill people at random. It's for hunting and defense.

  12. People with epilepsy are not permitted to drive a car either. That’s a governmental restriction, but a sensible one, right? So why would a mentally unstable person be allowed to buy heavy guns? Surely the government can impede rights and not allow permissions if general safety is questionable?

  13. Not entirely true. If you're seizure free for a year or more and medicated then you're clear to drive.

  14. You think that's bad, try having a pregnant Brandi Broke die of starvation due to being broke, leaving her teenager and younger son to live on their own.

  15. I don't know if it's neighborhood stories or MCCC but my kids who are younger than teenagers are adopted by other households. It's usually family but sometimes that is bypassed and they end up at a random household.

  16. Question. If California has more guns why doesn't it have more shootings? There have to be additional factors.

  17. I was curious so I looked it up. California ranks among the lowest gun violence per capita but has more guns than Texas. Texas doesn't rank among the highest either.

  18. I used to do that. Many many years later I'm still an avid reader.

  19. NTA. I can kind of see the issue but not to the point of tattling. "You guys" is fairly normal but I can also see how adults might want respect. Your discussion with her was plenty. She now has the opportunity to speak differently. I can't see how it's worthy of punishment.

  20. Not sure it'll be possible. The endings have significant enough differences that it might be like making three different games to make this work.

  21. Yeah I’m really bothered that the father doesn’t understand that that girl needs a lesson and consent. And I’m wondering if she has any friends, because kids that don’t understand consent usually can’t be good friends

  22. The stepsister has a hard enough time with human touch that she cried when OP touched her. That's pretty serious. She feels okay touching pets but the father won't let her have one of her own. Solutions here aren't simplistic.

  23. This is a tough one. Your stepsister can't have pets but probably because her father doesn't want them in the house. You said your stepsister also has issues with being touched. Your cat seems to bring her some kind of comfort that she can't otherwise get.

  24. Yes to term limits. SC would have been fine if it worked as it was meant to. The reason was that the justice's theoretically wouldn't be beholden to following political parties.

  25. If you've spent more than twelve years in Congress I have to assume it's about "you" rather than the People. A good rotation allows new thoughts and ideas to enter. Just my take but I'm a firm believer in term limits.

  26. NTA. You got burned. Your kid is going to get burned. Your heating bill has to be stupid expensive. She's incredibly unreasonable. Even your FiL saw that.

  27. Right though? I compliment anyone who looks like they need to be cheered up. Man or woman. If you look like you need a mood boost I'll throw out some kindness. I wonder if ops husband has rbf and people think he needs a cheering up. Only for him to assume they want to sEx him and steal him away from his wife...lol

  28. NTA. Here's what my outsider perspective is seeing. He likes knowing that people are attracted to him and makes sure they know he's out of their reach.

  29. Which means before your daughter was born. Did she not treat him as a grandchild previous to your daughter's birth?

  30. No, she didn't acknowledge him as family. When my daugther was born, she spent weeks telling everyone how she is finally a grandma and her son finally had a kid.

  31. She's terrible. I'm so glad your son is more important than someone who can be so cruel.

  32. Oh my, I didn't think of that 🥲

  33. I know! Poor kid. Hope he gets to live on Rannoch and hasn't been killed by a cruel Shepard choice.

  34. NTA. Okay, she made an apology. Is that it? Has she gone out of her way to treat you differently or mention how she was a bad person in the past and has worked hard to change? A bad life isn't an excuse for her behavior. Not even close.

  35. Probably why a friend of mine was able to move up quickly. If everyone leaves it's a lot easier to get promoted.

  36. Or perhaps… an intervention! I love this cover

  37. It was meant to be a story arc with a happy ending. Later writers understood the gravity of alcoholism and it made a comeback. I have the TPB of this storyline and the Foreward goes into depth on the subject.
