Even if it is 70s the water is still under 50. I don’t know that for a fact. But even in mid April in years past it was high mid 40s. The bite is gonna be tough on the lake. I would would wait til we get consistent temps over night in close to 50s. The bass will be way more active. If your heart is set on going. I would fish woodport which is the north end of the lake. Maybe rent a boat at dows they have jons with 9.9s. Good luck.
Yea, i understand the fish won’t exactly be jumping into the hook. I love fishing but I’m here to chill and catch a fish or two. Especially if I’m not in a boat.

I’ve worked with asbestos more times than i like to admit, no mask, no protection. The issue is it’s awful for you AND no one wants to pay 10k or around there to have it remediated properly.

I don’t know what you’ve heard about hopatcong but generally the fishing has been mediocre the last few seasons. Without giving away any spots, I’d say general rules of thumb for lake fishing apply - hit docks, points, underwater ledges/drop offs, grass lines, rock piles, etc. Water temps in April are still pretty low so you should be able to get on a prespawn bite.
Thank you! I’ve been doing a lot of research, especially pre spawn fishing. I’ve also been eyeing points and spots. Ide be happy if i can catch any fish at all, I’m going to try some night dock fishing as well. Temps are unusually high for this time of year so I’m hoping it gets the bass more active. Also hoping for no wind lol
