Disclaimer, I don't stay in hotels myself very often and I don't work housekeeping, so I'd be interested to know what the expectation is now especially "post"-COVID, but I've read $1-2/day... but that's assuming they come in every day, and assuming you put out the tip every day (since the housekeeping staff could be different each time). Also make sure it's clear it's a tip and not just random cash you're leaving around.
If I'm staying longer than 2, but fewer than 5 days, I'll tip $10 at the end of the stay. If it's just a single night, I'll tip $5.
You probably have different cleaners each time so tipping only the last one doesn't seem right
Oh! I failed to specify that I rarely travel alone, so each person in my party leaves an equal amount of tip money for housekeeping. Like, I would leave my $5, my traveling companions would also all leave $5, etc. We're a pretty undemanding bunch.
