  1. Bernie isn't the only one talking about it. It's actually a fundamental part of the progressive movement. Please note that Bernie is the only Senate member:

  2. It should be pointed out that the lend-lease aid was a lot more valuable than the dollar amount would indicate. Britain received most of the finished goods, while the USSR was sent mostly raw materials, food, and manufacturing equipment. All of this at a time when Russia could not supply a quantity anywhere close to adequate for it's war effort.

  3. I don't want to be rude and I agree with the general sentiment that hiring in IT is massively broken. It absolutely is, and fuck all of the asshole companies that participate in those practices.

  4. For starters, my predication that many consulting organizations do not understand the IT roles is not based solely in the Scrum position. That is why I mentioned several positions, and not only Scrum.

  5. First of all I do have Scrum certifications both as a PO and as Dev. As well as SAFE and Kanban certs.

  6. There are a few reasons I can think of that a Scrum Master is used as a singular role, two of which I am familiar with.

  7. Then start actually voting for progressives. Republicans have a very concerned strategy to bend the party as far right as possible over time, which causes "centrist" democrats to move right as well. Do the same thing with progressives in the Democratic party. Mainstream AOC and Bernie while ostracizing centrists like Biden and Clinton. Start moving the party towards progressives like the tea party moved republicans towards them.

  8. Toyota is an enormous lobbyist against electric vehicles. You can look up more, but they aren't a saint among demons. They're a demon, just in different ways.

  9. I always find myself finding everything cheaper in america online stores than in european stores. Especially with hardware, woodworking, light machinery.

  10. For machinery, the US is definitely cheaper. It is very common for people in the US to have larger machinery because of the prevalence of single family homes and an enormous rural population. And economy of scale works it's magic. Also European tools tend to be more advanced/specialized. For instance a sliding table saw is very common in europe, where in the US they are almost exclusively use the traditional cabinet type.

  11. Behold as Stephen Fry is completely overwhelmed by a standard American college football game:

  12. Amazing how much money you can make when the performers are working for free.

  13. When are new "lefty's" going to start bringing the OG term, progressives, back?

  14. Police should be forced to watch this in a training seminar titled "restraint".

  15. Consumer demand is somewhat the reason for inflation. What matters is that consumer demand and overall monetary supply outstrip the availability of goods and services, which is true.

  16. Blows my mind how many "computer illiterate" people are apparently aptly named because they just don't read what's on the damned screen.

  17. Know a career IT person (now retired) who is jaw droppingly illiterate with computers.

  18. Googling. Seriously, watch boomers try to look shit up on the internet some time.

  19. I had that fight with my dad many times. He swore the application process was:

  20. Yeah, going through that now. Round of apps from september are getting back now. One firm was good enough to contact me the week after and stay in contact for a January position. Pay is $25 an hour for a Scrum master (average of 6 figures nation wide, so about half of average). Other firms are just making contact to offer positions.

  21. I lived in the US for the first 30 years of my life. I’ve never seen an AR-15. I’d still rather live here in Australia. Don’t get me wrong, there are just as many stupid people here (just in a different way), but at least there are public benefits, a proper public health care system, and an overall better quality of life.

  22. AR-15s didn't become popular until a few years after the assault weapons ban ran out. Sure the ban didn't stop people from buying semi-auto weapons (famously the mini-14), but it did make the aesthetic terrible and prevented people from popularizing the type.

  23. Israel has the ability to make weapons pods useable with the F-35. However, the internal avionics and equipment are the same as the F-35A.

  24. Your source didn't prove anything?

  25. When older generations hoard wealth and refuse to pay appropriate wages, they find themselves having to give their money to their kids.

  26. Its a cheap airframe ig, no point scrapping them if you can still strap GBUs to em right?

  27. The USAF had to spend ~$10 million per aircraft to re-wing every A-10.

  28. Damn, thats gotta suck, but then again, how much would it cost to scrap all the A-10s, buy new aircraft to replace them, train all the pilots, ground crew, engineers, ect. establish new parts suppliers, scrap spare parts inventory, create new part IDs, re-tool every repair facility, establish new contracts for parts supplies and then get the aircraft ready for multi-national combat? Probably alot right?

  29. Someone else pointed out that the USAF had to scrap F-16s because of the A-10 fleet requirement. There was a quote from a USAF general a while ago that explained less airframes would be retired if the entire A-10 fleet was cut, like the USAF wanted, because they could reduce their logistics chain by one airframe. Instead a larger number of F-16s were retired to maintain the A-10 fleet, which needed a costly retrofit to even be airworthy. The F-16s were newer than the A-10s, more capable, had a much larger logistics chain already in place, and didn't require a $10 million retrofit. You don't need to replace the A-10, as the discussion is about which old platforms should be phased put faster/slower.

  30. US police: "I wouldn't be a police officer if I couldn't shoot people"

  31. Vote more progressive democrats then. Both parties are not the same.

  32. I'd argue the government reflects the people. I roomed with a Chinese citizen, and they were unironically nationalistic towards the CCP. Literally said: "there's no drugs in China" and "we don't have gay people in china." Guy also literally could not fathom the idea that water could be safe to drink out of a tap. I wouldn't say that responsibility is necessarily blanketed on every person of chinese origin, but to deny the link between government actions and the enormous amount of people that support said actions is just disingenuous.

  33. This is definitely the correct answer. Anyone who served in the USN will tell you that it's one giant game of "I'm not touching you" for months on end. That game works pretty well until it doesn't.

  34. Shooting competitions are fun. Also reload. My firearm is too large and heavy though to carry around.

  35. Don't forget HR! Generally I would say if a company is having troubles finding workers, it is because of incompetence.

  36. People like to say the US uses imperial, but the reality is that anyone who works consistently with tools or measuring will have both metric and imperial. Thanks to a globalised economy, it is literally impossible to not have metric tools/measurements.
