Most cross site cookies are blocked nowadays on major browsers. They accomplish this tracking almost entirely by unique device fingerprints derived from some combinations of screen size, dpi, user agent, IP location, etc. The act of blocking these things is unique enough of a behavior that it de-anonymizes you in of itself. The only way to actually hide nowadays is to throw out random but believable false data but that can mess with compatibility.
