News from psychodelephant

North Dakota's first openly lesbian official defends her right to be a Lesbian. People are obviously not happy with it ? Why though ? As she said, we don't elect for her sexual orientation but for her potential. People need to stop being invasive, dumb and disrespectful

  1. NCWV says:

Their worst export are senators that represent 400k people when a California senator represents 10s of millions. Their votes literally count more than urban voters. The senate structure may have made sense in the 1700s, but it is horrible today. Also, the electoral college is absurd. The idea that a presidential candidate can win the popular vote by millions of votes and still lose is insane.

  2. Nodak is getting a stereotyped bad rap here. Please understand that not all people in Nodak feel this way, even among conservatives. I know this intimately. While this -one- incident is outrageous, and it truly is, I assure you that there is no safer place in the world to need roadside assistance or that would afford you a bed and a meal if you knocked on almost any door. North Dakota is abound with people who want to help, but the ones who engage social media make it look like a comedy of errors. Please hear me. The state is not deserving of stereotyping and generalizations. I’m far-left liberal and saying that.

  3. I live in the state, it deserves its reputation. Any kindness is just a thin veneer until they find out someone doesn't align politically. Then it is passive-aggression from then on.

  4. I guess my point is that there are a lot of really -good- people there, too. Unfortunately they don’t get much time in the sun. If there were more Joshua Boschees in the political system there, I would be hopeful that this reputation could fade. A government is a reflection of its electorate but they’re not winning by landslides as much anymore. I’m hopeful it will change there.

  5. But...But... You don't understand... They have the 22nd most dangerous job in America! Right between groundskeepers and general maintenance workers! They have to go home to tHeIr fAmiLies!!

  6. Not to mention that their current #1 cause of death nationwide is -COVID-. I wonder what obstinate, reactionary personal life choices cause that completely avoidable statistic? It’s on the tip of my tongue but I just can’t come up with it. Anyone else wanna take a jab at it? It’s worth a shot.

  7. Welcome to the grind. Make friends at work. It will make it survivable.

  8. Is that what Gimli says to the Elves of the Woodland Realm in their first encounter?

  9. We are in the midst of a catastrophic mental health crisis and, to me, it seems that inside the party, the tail wags the dog when it comes to the consequences of willful mingling of church and state, de-prioritizing quality education and then allowing the culture those two elements produce (the constituency) to predicate the policies of the party to avoid the risks of backlash when creating any policy that doesn’t heed malformed beliefs and a curated sense of distrust in science and national government. It’s terrifying and heart-breaking at the same time.

  10. If you think Republicans are mentally ill do you feel the same way about people who are religious?

  11. Religious beliefs being manipulated is vastly different than institutional manipulation of democratic systems for ill-gotten gains when being in the minority motivates strategy to augment democratic processes rather than develop a contemporary and competitive political message that appeals to more people. People leave, join, further immerse themselves into, or abandon religion altogether every day in this world but it doesn’t put other people’s freedoms and civic systems at risk by a direct intention to disenfranchise well-accepted Constitutional rights.

  12. Alan Watts started me on a journey of introspection and appreciation for the opportunities to live to the fullest without remorse, fear or doubt. It saved my life. There are many of his recordings on YouTube. Visit them if you’re feeling disconnected from a purpose of self. It doesn’t answer everything but it certainly helps frame the problem and potential. Good luck, Starfighters.

  13. Download the SkyView app sometime and look at just how many rocket bodies from the last 50 years are shanghai’d out there all over the place. It’s nuts.

  14. Love and forgive each other. In the end you’ll reflect on the depth of this contribution more than any other in your search for peace.

  15. There are a lot of things in life worse than listening instinct. At least you have a healthy sense of self-preservation.

  16. Also I could only imagine the heat. I'm used to seeing these pictures but I've never been around one in person. I could only imagine seeing a mountain blowing up while the ground shakes, animals fleeing, heat rising, smell of smoke and char while throat starts burning etc. Ohhh man I'd believe in some God in ancient days haha

  17. I have been really, REALLY close to a scene like this. Even trying to get close to a small flank eruption felt unbeatable when you get within about 12-15 feet. The ground shakes constantly. The air is rich with sulfuric gas and it burns your eyes and lungs. The caldera booms like bombs are going off inside it, big bombs. My animal instinct to get the help out of there was nearly irresistible.

  18. Wow they went with Little Canada for MN? Little Canada is a fitting name, town is just outside of St Paul and they have maple leafs on all the street signs. I would have gone with Nimrod, MN or Ball Club, MN or best yet, Climax, MN

  19. I’m originally from North Dakota and this doesn’t surprise me even a little. Not a word of it.

  20. I would not promote scientific inquiry conducted today that used unethical methods.

  21. You can’t be everywhere all the time. Let yourself take relief knowing that where -you- are is where it’s happening. Be lazy or be busy. It’s your story

  22. It took me 20 years but the feeling is pretty rewarding. Good work, friend!
