  1. Everyone’s recommending upholstery fabrics but in this case I would recommend looking for a cotton woven rug. Something

  2. Oh that's nice! I wasn't sure how to describe the fabric in the link I submitted, it looks woven but very thick. I did searches for Moroccan fabric and the results were thinner looking fabric. Maybe i wasn't using the correct terms. Would this be described as cotton fabric?

  3. Dwayne Johnson as Bambi is one of the few actually good snl shorts.

  4. Call me crazy but why doesn't land used for the port stay being used for the port? That's the only place it can go and there's lots of places that a ballpark can be built.

  5. Found your mom Spotify and started listening. It's my type of music - i love it! Also tell your mom her Lagrimas Negras is super nice and she should sing more songs in Spanish.

  6. In this thread: people that have never taken an ethnic studies course

  7. I'm not necessarily too opposed to this, but if anyone's seen the UC A-G requirement then you'll know what it will be a lot harder to fit in an extra semester of an ethnic studies course. Unless your able to combine 12th grade english with an ethnic studies course like African-American literature, then this might be hard to fit.

  8. I'm sure the university of California can adjust their requirements to take into account a change in the education of California students

  9. I guess this would be the right way to do it, because That 70s Show basically jumped in with six very young actors whom nobody knew, and 80% of the entire show relied on nothing but their comedic performances.

  10. Won't the success of the show depend on how good the new kid actors are, then?

  11. What you are witnessing is Neoliberalism in early education. The aim of these “science based practices” is not the well-being of the children but maximising their capitalist value. It is dehumanising.

  12. Your post reminded me "Pedagogy of the Oppressed" by Paulo Freire which argues how traditional pedagogy uses a banking model of education (remember facts = good grades = knowledge) rather than allowing children to become co-creators of knowledge. Perhaps this is more for older kids, but i can see how this starts at the early age of kindergarten.

  13. Spend time with my parents and sisters, then spend time with my in-laws. For the last few hours my husband and I will play with our 6 month old baby, listen to music, dance and give out baby lots of hugs and kisses.

  14. Yeah, all that beeping is numerous PASS devices going off. It activates either manually, or when a firefighter isn’t moving for a period of seconds. It’s one of the most annoying sounds in training, but one of the scariest in a situation like this. Rest easy.

  15. Would hearing the chirping have helped first responders to find them? Or after a while did they stop chirping?

  16. There’s a possibility it may have helped find some of them in a normal rescue situation, but the massive scale of this destruction made it almost impossible. And PASS devices are battery powered, so while they kept chirping for a good while, eventually the batteries died. It’s chilling.

  17. Watch the new NatGeo documentary, 9/11: One Day in America. This is included and so much more that I had never seen either. Great interviews too. Still so sad.

  18. I watched it last week - More like binge watched it all in one day. Even though I knew what was going to happen, there was footage i hadn't seen before which made me feel like i was watching the events unfold for the first time. Probably easy a good idea to watch all 6 episodes. iI had trouble sleeping that night. Very good documentary, but very sad.

  19. Highly recommend watching One Day in America, a documentary about 9/11 from the perspective of first responders and regular folks people who were there. I thought it was intriguing, but respectfully done, lots of footage i hadn't seen before. There are parts that are obviously hard to watch, but i was so captivated hearing people's stories. It's currently on Hulu. I

  20. We're fucckkkkeeeeddddd. The US variant that emerges is going to be rough

  21. I fucking lost it when she reached up to caress the baby's hair....I'm bawling.,,,if anyone has the full(er) video, I'd love to see this......

  22. Six seconds into the video and i was crying, when she says "i wish I could see you" 😭

  23. I remember her from the movie "What Women Want"....she played the daughter of Mel Gibson's character. Well that was a long ass time ago.

  24. As someone working in the public health field, I'm so happy that you are going to school. RNs are such an important part of bay healthcare system. I strongly considered going to nursing program, but i ultimately didn't do it. A part of me regrets not doing it and i have since felt that it's too late for me to go. You are in an inspiration for us all!

  25. Peter Pan & the Pirates. I've always loved the Peter Pan stories and I remember watching this cartoon before i was able to see the Disney version.

  26. My sister and I (M) are 5 years apart. We were never really friends. She was always my babysitter. Till this day my sister are not very close.

  27. I have a very different experience. My (F) older sister is 5.5 years older than me and I am almost 8 years older than my younger sister. I am close with both my sisters, even though we sometimes had to fill the parental role for one another. My older and younger sister with the almost 13 year age gap don't always get along, but their relationship has improved over time. We all our closer now that we are adults. Maybe we got lucky? But i think some influencing factors like growing up in a "family first" culture and relying on each other when times were difficult brought us closer together.
