What's the best response to "I hate you"?

  1. This is my response whenever a student says this to me, or other things like, 'You're a terrible teacher', or 'Your class sucks.'

  2. I'm a firm fan of "Why?" Followed by interrupting mid way through the first sentence with "Juuuust kidding I don't give a fuck"

  3. This is the response one of my best friends gives when he hears that. "That sounds like a personal problem." Perfect answer if I ever heard one.

  4. It sound better when saying it like, “sounds like a you problem”. Maybe that’s just me idk

  5. I will never not love how Aussies use cunt like we use fuck. It's not so much a word as it is a comma. Say "fuck" over here, nobody bats an eye, say "cunt" though and the entire room goes silent, waiters drop dishes, and grandma starts crying...

  6. I don't know if it's a good response but my response would probably be something to the effect of "meh, what you gonna do" and walk away. Dismissing someone's hatred can be somewhat neutering and will probably further irk them.

  7. One time my little brother said that but instead of saying anything like you did my mom swore at him (which is much scarier in polish) and whacked him with a sandle.

  8. When I was a teacher I did something very similar I only had it said twice but both times my response was “that’s fine, I still love you but you still need to finish this”

  9. A super quantum computer, calculating for a thousands years, could not even begin to approach the number of fuck I do not give

  10. Mission complete, or maybe a simple I don't care. As life goes on I find myself much happier not giving a fuck about what people think

  11. I’m rubber and you’re glue. What you say bounces off me and sticks to you! (Keep repeating in a high pitched voice until they leave)

  12. It was that you would destroy the sith, not join them! Bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness!

  13. That's another one to add to the list so now I've only got 7.9 bill people on Earth to make despise me and I'm good.

  14. As a comment from a different thread with a different context wisely said, "there are two roads you can take, but they both end in fuck off."

  15. I hear this often as I just obtained custody of my two boys 4/7. The 4 year old tells me a lot he hates me but he also hates life in general so it's not just me. Monday we start therapy so we can work on ourselves. I validate his feelings because feelings are feelings right or wrong and id rather him tell me he hates me than act out on the hate. Some days are better than others but I'll never regret allowing my child to express their emotions to me without fearing punishment.

  16. "Well bless your heart" in a sincere southern accent then walk or away or let them walk away. That phrase can be meant and interpreted so many different ways they'll be confused for decades.
