First results of Finland's basic income experiment to be published on 8 February 2019

  1. I'm looking forward to reading it. I'm a Native Ontarian, Canadian. Basic income has become very important to me in the last few years. I've seen both sides of the topic. My new provincial government is trying to cancel the program along with a minimum wage increase. The court case will be decided on the letter of law. Which is somewhat sad because if I understand the components of the case they will not overturn the government's position. There is aways hope.

  2. Universal basic income is so important. Especially when companies only want to pay employees minimum wage.

  3. I totally agree as well it can make higher education realistic to people whom have children and can barely make ends meet. There is no way to support a family on minimum wage. Yes these are life choices but if there is some way to offer a way out of the crushing poverty, shouldn't we try.

  4. These results are meaningless without mass abundance. UBI works in a world where nearly everything in life is provided for nearly free and living costs are around $100 a month per human on UBI.

  5. Not really... If your country already has a strong welfare system with lots of expensive bureaucracy, the requirements get lower
