Zhou + Bottas thoughts?

  1. From watching F2 for the last few years I have to say that I'm not a fan of Zhou. He's not a bad driver by any means, but he's definitely not F1 material. His 2020 season left a lot to be desired and he only barely won the F3 Asia series last year, while he should have dominated it (because of the lack of talent in that years field).

  2. Interesting, i have not followed his career, but my hopes are high for both drivers and the team in general for next year and beyond

  3. F2 is so different from F1, it really doesn't matter who would have gotten the AR seat from F2. Some of the worst drivers on the F1 grid were feeder champs at one point in their lives. That's why I roll my eyes at Piastri fans. If an F2 driver is that good, they would have the connections to get into F1. Alpine clearly have the WCC in their sights for the future, they would have fired Ocon and put in Piastri if they thought he had the skill. Though maybe they didn't want Alonso to Vandoorne him.

  4. I really like your opinion and support it. I also think in a similar fashion. The f1 community really does tend to change positions and stance on drivers quite often, and since i personally do not follow f2 or f3 or in fact anything other than f1 i was happy to see Zhou here, and he had some positivity around him this year with his first practice sessions, didn't notice anything wrong at the practice, and mind you i was watching closely as this was a new guy for me and he was performing on par with the rest for the little time he had in my eyes. Also people were happy for him at that time, and suddenly when some one mentioned money and people switched so far i was not able to even blink. I dont like this mentality.

  5. I guess that's kind of my take too. I've heard nothing but "oh hey Zhou's pretty all right in F2, though sometimes not so much" but also yeah maybe there's something nice for AR/Sauber next season with the new regs and maybe a little more resources too. We'll have to wait and see.

  6. How exactly, and why a precedent ? If you are referring to the money, how is it different from Stroll, Latifi and Mazepin ? Also there are many more paid drivers, also successful paid drivers like Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher are the most popular that come to mind, again if you are referring to this?
