Draupadi Murmu could be India's 2nd Woman President & the 1st from a Tribal community

  1. Typical congress party strategy pre and post independence. It gave them good success. BJP continues to follow the age old formula.

  2. Not exactly. Congress never nominated a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe person for President post fearing loss of votes from dominant castes (which was their primary Hindu vote bank in Hindi belt). If not, their usual strategy was to nominate a Muslim or Sikh.

  3. But not everyone can identify ourselves as Tribal, unless we've been part of the community within the past few centuries or generations at least.
