Russia's chief propagandist threatens to 'plunge Britain into the depths of the sea' with underwater Poseidon nuke that would trigger a 1,600ft radioactive tidal wave and wipe the UK off the map

  1. Well by Odin's beard I didn't have nuclear tsunami on my apocalypse bingo card. Fair play for coming up with some mad super villian shit that inst physically possible.

  2. Didn't someone do the math on this and work out that in order to generate a tidal wave they would need enough power to move a tectonic plate and we don't have a big enough bomb to do that yet.

  3. I think we have the power to do a small one, but it would take a whole stockpile. Like why, when you can just way less nukes to destroy the UK

  4. I'm not convinced the tidal wave would be all that radioactive tbh. Water is an excellent absorber of radiation. Weve done underwater nuclear tests and more than one nuclear sub has gone down and noone ever reports the sea water being particularly radioactive afterwards.

  5. Yeah. The tsunami will primarily be a pressure wave rather than moving water (at least early on). Which means all the radioactive material is going to be near the blast sight, and not carried with the tsunami.
